Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to complete a drawing?

It really depends on the subject I choose, the composition, the size and the amount of detail. Basically, it can take anywhere from 50 to 80 hours from start to finish.

How is it that you can spend so much time on a drawing and not get tired of it?

It is a combination of loving what I do, lots of patience and the perfectionist in me.

What kind of pencils do you use?

I use a combination of artist grade pencils including Faber-Castell, Pablo, Prisma and Lyra pencils.

Do you draw from a picture?

No. I choose and use a live subject for each drawing.

Which is your favorite drawing?

It is really hard to say. Each drawing is very special to me. I tend to develop a personal attachment to each one, whether it is because of the time in my life when I drew it, the place where I found my subject or if I drew it in memory of someone. With each drawing I feel that I leave a little bit of my soul in it. Therefore, they are all my favorite.

Who is your favorite artist?

We have had so many extraordinary and talented artists throughout the years. However, if I had to pick one who really inspires me, I would have to say Vincent Van Gogh. It is his use of bold, dynamic, brushstrokes, bright colors and energy within his pieces which I find most captivating. And the fact that he was not recognized for the brilliance of his work when he was alive, but continued to paint regardless of this, remains an inspiration for me. This is a true testimony of Van Gogh’s determination, passion and dedication to his creative calling.

Do you ever sell your original drawings or copies?

Yes, I do. I also sell matted prints, limited edition giclée prints and boxed note cards. Please see my Store page for information and ordering.
